President Donald Trump signed an order June 24 imposing further sanctions on Iran, specifically targeting Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The move comes amid heightened tensions with Iran. Iran shot down a U.S. drone, which it said was flying in Iranian airspace, earlier this month and has threatened to increase production of enriched uranium beyond the limit outlined in the nuclear deal, which the U.S. pulled out of last year. Trump told reporters in at the signing that he “would love to” negotiate a new deal with Iran.
