Surgery takes baseball star out for 2020 season

New York Mets pitcher Noah “Thor” Syndergaard has announced that he will undergo ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, or “Tommy John surgery,” on his right elbow on Thursday. This will take him out of Major League Baseball’s 2020 season, expected to begin as early as mid-May following its current postponement due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
