South Dakota ‘riot-boosting’ law sparks outrage

Activists and civil liberties advocates are furious about a new law in South Dakota, SB 189. The law, which imposes harsh penalties for “riot-boosting,” came in response to the Standing Rock resistance against the Keystone XL Pipeline. This also comes in the midst of a lawsuit by local native tribes against the continued construction of the pipeline.
